Absence Management

We can work with you to assess and provide impartial, professional advice on absenteeism and support your staff to get back to work as quickly as possible.

Our absence management strategies focus on early interventions and will help your business to:

  • Enable employees to return to work sooner
  • Reduce levels of absence
  • Cut the cost of absence to your organisation
  • Drive up productivity
  • Create greater engagement and motivation of your staff as they feel more valued

Rehabilitation

We can provide early advice to your staff and guide them through treatment and support options so that your staff can either remain at work or return to work quicker when they are unwell.

Employee Medical Assessments

Pre-placement medical assessment can be part of the recruitment or career progression process and used to decide whether the candidate is fit for the job and whether the job fits the candidate. This type of assessment allows you to consider any reasonable adjustments to support a disability in the workplace or identify if there are any health related issues that would make a candidate unsuitable for a specific role.

If your staff routinely work night shift or you have an expectant / new mother in your team, then legislation requires you to carry out a risk assessment to make sure that your staff remain well while at work. Caledonia OH can carry out these risk assessments for you and suggest what changes you need to consider.

Workstation (DSE) Assessments

These assessments are mandatory for all your staff who meet the HSE definition of a DSE user.   This includes any of your staff who regularly work with equipment that has a screen and displays information. Surveys have found that high proportions of DSE workers report aches, pains or eye discomfort. Mostly these conditions don't indicate any serious ill health, but it makes sense to avoid them as far as possible.

Workplace Risk assessments

We can provide a thorough, professional occupational health risk assessment.  This will help you decide if you need to take action to prevent occupational illness or quickly identify any issues before it starts to affect your business.

Our assessment will:

  • Identify any hazards, evaluate the risk and any staff who may be affected
  • Identify and help you to prioritise appropriate interventions and controls
  • Design and deliver a health surveillance and prevention programme (if required)

Health surveillance

Ongoing checks can prevent health problems occurring and ensure that your staff are safe and able to work.

We can design and deliver a cost effective health surveillance programme for your business and ensure that we only test those who may be at risk. If your staff are exposed to noise, vibration or other substances hazardous to health they may be required to be checked by law.

Examples of the types of health surveillance we can provide include:

  • Hearing testing
  • Vision testing
  • Hand and arm vibration
  • Lung function testing
  • Driver medical exam
  • Alcohol/drug testing

Workplace Immunisations & Travel Health

We can provide you with expert advice and guidance to identify which vaccinations are appropriate for your staff based on the work they do and make sure that you comply with the most up to date legislation.

Having an effective vaccination and recall system will;

  • Give confidence to your staff who are exposed to vaccine preventable diseases that protection is being provided

  • Provides reassurance for management should you be inspected by HSE or local authority inspectors.

Health Promotion and Wellbeing

We can support you to create a positive and healthy working environment and promote healthy behaviours amongst your staff. This can include services that:

  • Improve mental wellbeing
  • Change behaviour – smoking, alcohol and substance misuse
  • Increase physical activity
  • Promote healthy eating
